Some Impressions of Oktoberfest

CELEBRATE LIKE IN BAVARIA
...Oktoberfest on the Coast
The wedding of Ludwig I and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghaus on 17 October 1810 was the starting signal for a festival that has become German tradition.
Since then, Oktoberfest has been celebrated every year, in the meantime not only in Munich but in other regions and even in other countries such as South Africa, Canada and the USA.
|
Today Oktoberfest represents the largest folk festival in the world.
In Kühlungsborn things are just a bit quieter. Since 1999 the brewery has been inviting guests to come to this great festival.
|

At the same time as in the original festival in Munich, our mayor taps the (first) barrel of festival beer in 41 Strandstraße.
The tapping of the barrel is accompanied by the great oompah music of the Doberaner Brass Orchestra.
|
What is then tapped and flows fresh, effervescent and foaming from the barrel into the stein is specially brewed festival beer, Kühlungsborner Festbier.
"Palatable, dark, unfiltered and natural", is the description that brewer Markus Falenski gives this beer.
Brewed using Pilsner, Münchener and dark malt with the finest Tettnager aroma hops to become a true speciality served freshly-tapped in a stein.
|
Naturally, Bavarian cuisine can't be left out of the picture.
This year again we are offering specialities such as grilled pork knuckles, white sausage, liver loaf, liver dumpling soup and sausage salad; even if the recipes aren't local, the ingredients are all fresh from this region.
|
The people of Kühlungsborn love the beer tent atmosphere, but they're not the only ones
Every year, many guests are visiting the Ostseebad especially for that event.
Come on, let's go...
